Peter Grill is an advertising and editorial photographer based in Washington, DC.
A love of the great outdoors and rock climbing is what got Peter toying with cameras at a young age. From making home movies documenting his friend’s climbing expeditions to trying to imitate the photos he’d pore over in old climbing magazines, being outside and creating were his obsessions.
Pursuing that passion, Peter studied photography in the mountains of North Carolina at Appalachian State University, home to both a great photo program and local climbing. From graduation he moved 500 miles up the Blue Ridge Parkway to Washington, DC where he refined his craft as first assistant and lighting tech to the area’s top advertising shooters.
As a photographer, Peter is focused on capturing authentic moments to create natural, inspiring imagery for his clients. On set he’s usually found rolling around in the dirt, balancing atop ladders, and hanging out of moving cars to get the shot. Still based in DC, Peter shoots both locally and abroad.
